So it’s now official that I’ve moved the old blog to wordpress, as I knew I should have years ago, but you figure that what with all this folksonomy and better templates and widgets and so on, I’m all newly retagging all the old posts–working it from both ends, as it were. Which is interesting, as five years ago, even though I promised not to look, I was in much the same place, but without the kendo to guide my development. My idea of fitness was pieced together from the backs of sugar packets and cast-off Men’s Healths. Still, it was nice to have a midwidth olympic bench and a chest.

So today should have been lazier, given that we got back from Hellboy around 2am after dodging some drunken mics on the train who trampled poor Mark’s sandal to the point where it snapped and I had to step in and walk half-barefoot all the way home, and then lingered online for a while before hitting bed, but it felt good to hit keiko and then Rob Chin up for some authentic Frisco-beer bought in USq and spicy pickles to boot, though City Bakery ought not to smell like barf-cheese, I’m just saying. I should do more planks as my glutes need a good deal more work than they’ve been getting, perhaps. And then off all the way to Flushing for the usual 359 goodness plus even red mango, though mochis distressingly bear 62.5 calories per serving, which of course is irregular given the vicissitudes of serving size.

I’m glad that Mark and I are enjoying different wines. In the past week-plus, Mark West Pinot Noir 2006, Charmee Pinot Noir 2006, Rock Rabbit (the house white). All right, I guess it’s not that many, but at least there’s variety!

So as my annual trip “home” draws to a close, I find myself again anxious to return to New York and the more normal course of my life, as busy as that is going to be right when I hit the ground. It’s been more of the same, I could tell the same stories of sweat pants, pirated wireless, procrastination, overeating and underheating that I have been for years. Things never change, until two grandparents pass.

I’m looking forward to the future, though, vaguely contemplating an April trip to Venezuela and a July-August thing to Taipei/Taiwan, all mediated by plenty of kendo.

I feel like almost everything in my life has come together except a couple things I used to take for granted back in the day which now I don’t at all. It’s gotten better and worse and now I just continue on, plenty fine for the most part, alternating with silences that stretch indefinitely.

Still, it’s been nice to be clean from booze and tobacco, even though I’d much rather be eating less than what I’m doing now. Time to get back in shape–I need a new gym routine for sure!
